The following range of activities can be undertaken within a project, depending on a designer’s needs:
Brief - We work with the designer to interpret their vision and objectives for a scheme - whether its merchandise that needs highlighting or architectural features that need emphasising - while always complying with overall cost constraints.
Report - If required, Compact Lighting produces a written critique of an existing scheme, supported by photography and light measurements. We can recommend solutions supported by 3D-rendered images of the finished installation, with analysis of current and proposed costs and benefits. We have prepared reports for various organisations including Adams, Arcadia, Boots, HMV, Lloyds TSB, Next, M&S, Peacocks, Specsavers, Thomas Cook and Vodafone.
Prototype - We engineer and install mock-ups of key elements of a designer’s scheme, either in the trial store, in the client offices or our showrooms. Any special products developed are always prototyped for approval before production.
Document Scheme - Compact Lighting has its own project management website for designers to view their specification for a scheme. The data is live, showing layouts, quotations, sales order verifications, and after sales service systems. To simplify the ordering process, references to specific luminaires are expressed in the ‘designer’s language’ accompanied by a Compact Lighting code.
Forecast System - In the case of roll-out programmes where a number of stores are being refurbished and opened over a period of time, our bespoke forecast system balances what is predicted with actual orders to ensure product is available when needed.
Site Assessment - Compact Lighting checks the designer’s electronic drawing to verify the agreed design is as specified for each site. We assess lighting levels, including emergency lighting, and produce a quotation for that site. If required, Compact Lighting can add a lighting layer before distributing the drawing, complete with lighting calculations and a 3D Dialux rendering of the interior, for client approval. The latest site details are incorporated into our forecasting system for review.
Delivery of Goods - Luminaires are generally delivered direct to site in containers that are clearly marked with symbols of the specific product. For ease of installatation, we endeavour to coordinate the symbols on the drawing with that on the packaging.
After Sales - If there is a fault found with any unit, we will despatch a replacement to the on-site electrician the next day, to avoid delaying completion. To solve any problems, one of our engineers can be on-site, anywhere in the UK, within 24 hours. We also offer various maintenance schemes to ensure the integrity of the design is retained.
